British Paintings 1500 to 1850:
This area covers the field of British Paintings from the Tudors and Stuarts through the great age of Hogarth, Reynolds and Gainsborough to the era of Constable and Turner, including portraits, marine and sporting subjects and a wide range of landscapes and genre paintings. Sussex sales are also in the category of paintings.

British Watercolors and Drawings to 1850:
Portrait drawings, caricatures, and British and Continental landscapes, marine watercolors, architectural drawings and botanical and natural history drawings and watercolors. Works by Turner, Constable, Gainsborough, Cotman, Lear and their contemporaries and a great many other artists of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

Victorian Paintings, Watercolors and Drawings:
Paintings and Drawing in Victorian England including the Pre-Raphaelites, the classicism of Leighton and Alma-Tadema and the artists of the Belle Epoque such as Tissot. Also landscape, still life, genre and historical subjects in both oil and watercolors by lesser-known artists.

Scottish & Sporting Paintings:
Sales at Glasgow, Hopetoun House and Gleneagles Hotel, including 19th and 20th century works by Scottish artists and of Scottish views and containing strong sporting emphasis. Beginning with early landscapes, of the Nasmyth family, domestic and historical genre painters such as Faed, the Scottish Impressionists, McTaggart and Hutchison and the ornithological artists Archibald Thornburn and Lodge. The 20th century section continues with the work of the Glasgow Boys, the Colourists and Modern Scottish painters Anne Redpath, Sir Robin Philipson and Sir William MacTaggart. Most sales will includes sections of Jewels and Weymms Ware and Silver.
